It's in the "Blue Heeler Country", just 2kms west of Sandy Hollow on the Golden Highway which links the City of Newcastle to the hub of the west, the City of Dubbo.

Ellamara (Aboriginal word meaning "Tenacity and Determination") is over 120 years old. It is Heritage listed. It was originally the old township of Giant's Creek. Through tender loving restoration we have made it back into a little working village. There are rambling country gardens. We offer unique accommodation, fine country fare, a wonderful place of tranquility with many nooks and crannies to discover in the stunning scenery, friendly service and local knowledge. We are also a Working Farm with Murray Grey and Black Angus Cattle.
